Major Servicing

Compressor Overhaul & Reconditioning

When routine servicing isn't enough — when performance has deteriorated, unusual noises have developed, or a major failure has occurred — a full overhaul restores your compressor to working condition and extends its service life significantly. Often a fraction of the cost of replacement.

What It Is

A Full Mechanical Rebuild — Not Just a Service

An overhaul goes far beyond routine maintenance. It involves stripping the compressor down to its major components, inspecting every part, replacing worn or failed items, and rebuilding the unit to manufacturer specification.

This is the right intervention when a compressor shows signs of declining performance — reduced pressure delivery, increased oil consumption, overheating, excessive noise or vibration — or after a serious mechanical failure. A properly executed overhaul can restore a compressor to near-new operating condition and extend its useful life by many years.

Radiant Engineering carries out overhauls on all major brands. We assess the scope before committing to a fixed quote, so you know exactly what the work involves and what you'll get back.

Who It’s For

When an overhaul is the right call

  • Compressors showing declining performance — reduced pressure, lower flow, higher specific power, or increased oil carry-over.
  • Post-breakdown units with major internal damage — motor failure, airend seizure, or severe contamination that requires full disassembly.
  • End-of-warranty major service — many manufacturers recommend a full overhaul at 20,000–40,000 hours to reset the service clock.
  • Where replacement cost is prohibitive — a quality overhaul typically costs 30–50% of a new unit and delivers comparable reliability.

Overhaul Scope

What’s Included in an Overhaul

Every overhaul starts with a full assessment. Final scope depends on the unit's condition — we'll confirm before any work begins.

  • Full strip-down and condition assessment — complete disassembly with documented inspection findings and photographic record before work begins
  • Airend overhaul — screw element or piston inspection, rotor bearing replacement, shaft seal kits, and clearance verification
  • Bearing and seal replacement — all main drive bearings, shaft seals, and gaskets replaced regardless of apparent condition
  • Cooler cleaning and pressure test — oil cooler and aftercooler descaled, flushed, and hydraulically tested to confirm integrity
  • Controller and electrical inspection — check control board, temperature and pressure sensors, solenoid valves, motor winding resistance
  • Valve gear and inlet valve overhaul — inlet valve, minimum pressure valve, and thermostatic bypass valve serviced or replaced as required
  • Full consumables replacement — new oil separator, oil filter, air filter, and compressor oil fitted on reassembly
  • Post-overhaul performance test — run-in period, pressure and temperature verification, and leak check before redelivery or recommissioning on-site

Why Radiant

Why Choose Radiant for Your Overhaul

An overhaul done poorly is worse than no overhaul. Correct reassembly, clearances, and recommissioning are critical to the outcome.

Assess First, Quote Second

We inspect before we quote. You receive a clear written scope and price before any work begins — no hidden costs discovered halfway through the job.

Multi-Brand Technical Knowledge

We overhaul Ceccato, Atlas Copco, Ingersoll Rand, Kaeser, CompAir, and other major brands. The same team handles the full job from strip-down to recommissioning.

Performance-Tested Before Return

Every overhauled unit is run-in and performance-verified before redelivery. You receive a post-overhaul test report confirming working pressure, temperature, and oil carry-over.
